Trauma Focused 6 Week Treatment Program

The Program

Since March 1987, we have been serving Indigenous men and women who are over the age of 18 with drug and/or alcohol addictions

Our program is six (6) weeks in duration and is a Trauma Focused – Cultural Based program, which incorporates traditional practices of healing while working with individuals One-to-One. Our program’s belief is that understanding the trauma that one has faced in his/her/their life and to reconnect with Indigenous Culture along with individual counselling, healing circles and educational presentations, will assist individuals greatly towards “Strengthening the Healing Journey”.

Individuals will have the opportunity to attend Alcoholic/Narcotics Anonymous meetings within the facility.

Mental Health Services

Clients of Onen’tó:kon have access to a mental health worker who is trained in energy psychology methods such as Neurolinguistic programming N.L.P, Emotional Freedom Technique E.F.T tapping and Dialectical behavior therapy. These modalities are beneficial in addressing a variety of client traumas ranging from but not limited to; post traumatic stress, grief, depression, anxiety and panic,  and substance triggers. The goal is to establish a routine of maintenance and manageability moving beyond stuck trauma energy and help our clients generate a cycle of self care and mental wellness.  The goal is achieved through individual and group sessions guided by the mental health worker, complimented and supported by the Onen’tó:kon team.

The mental health worker can also facilitate referral for assessment and specified continuance of care with our partners at the CHUM.
